About a month ago, I had the pleasure of visiting Venice for 48 hours, and I got to see the city sitting in a kayak!
The last time I went, I was about 10 years old, and my childhood memories where still all there: Souvenir shops filled with glass figurines, pizza, pigeons on the Marcus square… My, now more adult eye, caught the incredible architecture and the beauty of the city. And taking it all in, you cannot help thinking about the crazy idea of building an entire community on water. All infrastructure is by boat: garbage collection, transportation of good, busses, taxis, postal services, police, ambulances and even firebrigades. The pleasure of spotting a fire boat filled with firefighters in a canal, made me feel a little bit like ten years old again.
Well Back to the kayak: It was my first time sitting in one, and it was so much fun! We started out in a quiet marina, that gave us a chance to get to know the basics, and then we where off.
